Exhibition “Novruz is the First Day of Spring” will be held on March 14-20, 2007 in the Humanities and Social Sciences Reading Hall (#108, 1st Floor).
The display will be dedicated to the history, roots and rich traditions of the Holiday of Novruz. The word "Novruz" is coming from two words "nov", which means "new" and "ruz", means "blessings or abundance".
This is the most ancient and cherished holiday in Azerbaijan celebrated across the country -- from a small village to a big city.
On November 30, 2006 Khazar University Library Information Center (LIC) organized presentation on "Japan Foundation Collection."
President
of Khazar University, Prof. Hamlet Isaxanli, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan, Mr. Shimizu, representatives from Asian Development and from different libraries of Azerbaijan, such as the National Library named after M.F.Akhundov, Azerbaijan State Children's Library named after Kocharli, Library of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Library of Azerbaijan Medical University, Azerbaijan Republic Medical Library and others, attended the presentation.
Presentation was held at Khazar University and ceremony was opened by Tatyana Zaytceva, Director of the Library Information Center and librarian Aytag Azizova.
Prof. Hamlet Isaxanli
noted that presented books cover all areas of Japanese life. "Several years ago it was difficult to receive any information concerning Japan . But now it is easier because of development of strong relationships between our countries. I hope that readers will receive necessary and helpful information about the history, culture and modern life of Japan."
These
books meet an ever-increasing demand of the Khazar University Community.
Head of
subdivision of the Library Information Center Gulshan Mehdiyeva made a presentation which included brief
information as activities between Japan and Khazar University , Japan Foundation Library Support Program.
LIC has been taking part in various exhibitions on a regular basis, and the Japan Foundation Collection exhibition
also raised a public interest.
LIC
has received new books from Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The OSCE Office in Baku possesses a broad mandate, which covers major areas of concern in all OSCE
dimensions
including the human, political, economic and environmental aspects of security and stability.
These donated books (71 copies) are mainly devoted such problems as implementation of the commitments
undertaken by Azerbaijan after its accession into the Council of Europe; carrying-out of legislative reforms in the
fields of elections, mass media, civil society, gender and youth issues, etc.
New Arrivals from Japan Foundation
LIC is pleased with his partnership with its Japan Foundation and is happy to be one of many participants in their
Library Support Program for the fiscal year fiscal year 2005/2006. The Japan Foundation is the first specialized
organization for international exchange in Japan.
Thanks to Japan Foundation help we received as a gift to our library core collection. Now members of our Community, especially students and teachers, have the opportunity to read the received books. These 108 educational and scientific books in subjects like Reference& General Works, Arts, Economics &Industry, Education, History, Literature, Political Science & Law, Sociology & Anthropology, Thoughts & Religion and Women Studies have played an important role in the growth and development of the LIC Collection.
