New books by Ronald Habbard
LIC
has received new audio books by Ronald Habbard devoted
scientology and dianetics.
Ron
Hubbard is the author of 19 bestsellers who sells a
book every 6 seconds, translated into 72 languages and
has sold over 230,000 million copies to date. L Ron
Hubbard is one of the most widely read authors of all
time.
Books on Scientology contain advice on improving one's
everyday life. This book covers the search for personal
happiness, handling marital problems, dealing with
children, improving relationships with others and the
nature of man himself. It also traces the background of
scientology, and discusses happiness, the soul, and the
basic mystery of life.
The
word Dianetics comes from the Greek dia, meaning
'through' and nous, meaning 'soul', and is defined as
'what the soul is doing to the body.' Dianetics is a
methodology which can help alleviate unwanted sensations
and emotions, irrational fears and psychosomatic
illnesses [illnesses caused or aggravated by mental
stress].
Meeting with Blackwell
Representative
On May 7, 2009 a special meeting was held at the Khazar
University Library and Information Center
between Tatyana Zaytseva, director of KU LIC and Rex
Steiner, Director of Library consulting of
Blackwell.
Blackwell has been providing books to libraries since
1879. They first began out of Benjamin Henry Blackwell’s
bookshop on Broad Street in Oxford, England.
The meeting included discussion on Blackwell’s new
subject web resources, proposed new purchasing models,
and special offers.
Rex Steiner said that similarly, we will inform you of
special offers for reference sets, where pre-pulications
pricing is in effect, typically with added discounts for
ordering through Blackwell. He added that Blackwell has
reduced many of our already low price special offers
even more. Best of all many of these special offers are
available in both print and electronic editions.
He also pointed out the
outstanding relationships Blackwell with their
publishing partners give them the opportunity to extend
promotions to their customers.
Cambridge
Journals Online
We are
pleased to announce that the first issue of the 2009
volume of the
Journal of Public Policy
is online now.
The Journal of Public Policy applies social
science theories and concepts to significant political,
economic and social issues and to the ways in which
public policies are made. Its articles deal with topics
of concern to public policy scholars in America, Europe,
Japan and other advanced industrial nations. The journal
often publishes articles that cut across disciplines,
such as environmental issues, international political
economy, regulatory policy and European Union processes.
Its peer reviewers come from up to a dozen social
science disciplines and countries across three
continents, thus ensuring both analytic rigour and
accuracy in reference to national and policy context.

Journal
of American Studies
(JAS)
seeks to critique and interrogate the notion of
"America" from a variety of disciplinary standpoints,
pursuing this through international perspectives on the
history, literature, politics and culture of the United
States. The Journal publishes original
peer-reviewed research and analysis by established and
emerging scholars throughout the world, considering US
history, politics, literature, institutions, economics,
film, popular culture, geography, sociology and related
subjects in domestic, continental, hemispheric, and
global contexts. Its expanded book review section offers
in-depth analysis of recent American Studies scholarship
to promote further discussion and debate. The journal is
intended not only for students and scholars, but also
for general readers with an interest in the United
States.
DSpace Presentation at Baku State University
At a presentation on Khazar University Institutional
Repository to the Academic Council of International
Science and Education Integration Department of the Baku
State University, given LIC director (T.Zaytseva) on
April, 4 2009 were discussed changes in academic
publishing and proposed moving toward an Open Access
policy for Khazar University
Dr. Zaytseva noted that Khazar University program for
archiving intellectual output of the university enabled
to develop an Institutional Repository (KUIR) for the
storage of a wide variety of materials, teaching and
learning, and research. Essentially we wanted to build a
location for anything and everything which will extend
the body of knowledge held by the University for the
benefit of its members.
Khazar University Institutional Repository includes
research collections such as journal articles and
conference papers, as well thesis and learning and
teaching collection to share innovative practice with
the wider academic community. It preserves the scholarly
and institutional information of KU for the future and
facilitates wider access to academic research. It
provides a full citation for each item, and wherever
possible, the complete content subject to any copyright
restrictions.
This work has been a collaborative effort led by the
library, with significant input from the research and
academic community across the University. On behalf of
KU, LIC is overseeing the development of the repository
and actively mediates the addition of all new material.
