SPE Khazar student chapter arranged a trip for petroleum engineering students to Gobustan on 13th May 2007. Gobustan State Reserve was established in 1966 when the region was declared as a national historical landmark of Azerbaijan in an attempt to preserve the ancient carvings, mud volcanoes and gas-stones in the region Students took great interest to explore the old history of Gobustan. SPE Khazar student chapter is highly indebted to our dear Professor Dr. Arif Mamamzade for accompanied us and for highlighting the main aspects of Gobustan and its surroundings.

SPE Khazar student chapter took petroleum engineering students to Balakhani, a suburb of Baku to see The Nobel Brothers' old oil wells, on 13th May 2007. In 1875 The Nobel brothers (Ludvig and Robert, with Alfred of Nobel Prize fame as a partner) started their activities in Azerbaijan's oil industry.
