On
March-June, a Foundation of New Writers and Artists
realized a Cultural Project - VIII Baku Book Festival, financed
and supported by the Ministry
of Youth and Tourism .
On May 26, Akhundov
National Library hosted the Festival, including
the celebrities of exhibition, meetings with literary
figures and
artists and ceremony of awards. Khazar University
library actively participated in these events and
demonstrated its
latest publications for the readers. The Festival was
dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the First Democratic
Republic of Azerbaijan and the 100th jubilee of the
national writer Mir Calal Pashayev.
At the end of the
Festival it was announced 33 names of nomination award
winners chosen out of number of more than 300
candidates in the field of literature, culture and book publication.
Khazar University President, professor,
poet-translator Hamlet Isaxanli’s ”Book of poetry -
"Quatrains” (Baku: Khazar University
Press, 2007. – 209 p.) and “Khazar English -
Azerbaijani Comprehensive Dictionary” (Baku: Khazar
University Press, in six volumes, 2004. - Hamlet İsaxanlı, Tofiq Abasguliyev) won the VIII Baku Book Festival awards on
different nominations.
