HISTORY 

On April 22, 2011, by the decree T/16 of the President of Khazar University, the Division of Graduate Studies and Research was established at Khazar University to expand the spectrum of staff preparation, as well as to improve and manage the scale of research works in order to meet the needs of increasing admission rates into graduate studies and master programs of the university.
MISSION Division of Graduate Studies and Research mission covers 2 major areas:

  1.  Graduate studies
  2.  Research
 
  1.  Responsibilities in the field of GRADUATE STUDIES:

  • Develop and maintain policy manual
  • Develop and update graduate bulletin
  • Develop web page for the School of Graduate Studies and Research
  • Develop and maintain functional database for all graduate programs, students and alumni
  • Develop and maintain thesis and dissertation guidelines
  • Coordinate and publicize Master’s and Ph.D. programs
  • Organize graduate student orientation
  • Coordinate graduate committees for each degree program in coordination with School deans
  • Establish and coordinate graduate faculty in collaboration with School deans
  • Prepare and advertise admissions procedures and requirements in collaboration with School deans
  • Coordinate thesis and dissertation defenses, committees etc., in collaboration with School deans
  • Advise prospective graduate students
  • Collaborate with School deans in preparation of curricula
  • Promote graduate programs throughout Azerbaijan and abroad
  • International graduate student recruitment
  • Coordinate all programs and policies with the Ministry
  • Play leadership role in innovations for graduate studies, eg. develop student awards, possible funding streams, graduate student lecture series, etc
  • Work with Director of Development on graduate alumni affairs
  • Represent the Graduate School to the Ministry and in public forums
  • Prepare all necessary reports for the university’s leadership, the ministry, etc.
  • Develop international opportunities for graduate students
  • Participate in appropriate national and international bodies
  • Coordinate graduate student graduation ceremony
 
2.   Responsibilities in the field of RESEARCH:
  • Promote original research and scholarship among the university’s faculty members
  • Support the university’s teaching staff in locating grants and other possible research funding
  • Assist faculty in administering grants received, compliance with reporting expectations, etc.
  • Support and promote undergraduate research
  • Work with schools, departments and faculty to organize scholarly conferences
  • Work with Deans to identify research needs in the community – eg. petroleum industry, energy, private sector generally, etc.
  • Publicize the university’s research activities and accomplishments
  • Develop and maintain records of all faculty and student publications, grants, and other research related achievements
  • Prepare all necessary reports for the university’s leadership, the ministry, etc.
  • Work with library to develop its capacity to support research
  • Participate in appropriate national and international bodies
